Three weeks from today, I'm moving to Australia! Yup, on June 27th, I'm goin' down unda'. Crikey!
It's with many mixed emotions that I'm embarking on this journey. Ever since I started my Tourism & Hospitality Mgmt. Degree at Mount Saint Vincent University in '05, I've wanted to travel. And I did - I went to Manhattan several times to visit my sister. I mean, who wouldn't say yes to free accommodations in NY combined with having the inside track on food, music, etc. from a local. Then, last year, I told my sis: "No more trips to NY until I've seen more of this planet!"
I graduated as a certified sommelier from the Canadian Association of Professional Sommeliers (CAPS) in April, and with that, I intend to travel the globe one wine region at a time.
I truly appreciate those of you who read With Bite regularly, and am sad to not be a source for food & beverage content in Halifax, anymore, but if you'd like to follow me on my Australian adventure please check back regularly for updates from Oz!
But in the meantime, I do have a few more Hali meals up my sleeve (The Rockbottom Brew Pub, Pipa and Stayner's, to name a few) so please check back for those too! :)

As a transplanted Nova Scotian I've jealously read your blog posts about my old home town. Now I'll jealously read your posts about Oz.
I'm sure you'll try all the big southeastern wine regions, but I can personally vouch for Margaret River. I visited last fall with my brother (who said he liked it more than any other Australian wine region except Yarra, I believe) and it was fantastic...lots of amazing wine, obviously, but also great restaurants, breweries and scenery. Words and pictures are here; hopefully they'll be of some help.
Enjoy!
That's great! I travelled and worked in Oz for a year after I graduated and it was one of the best experiences of my life. Enjoy every moment. :)
Kristen, you'll be missed terribly, but I can't wait to follow your adventures abroad. Stay in touch!
Thanks so much for the kind words, and for the encouragement about moving to Oz! Really appreciate the support!
Cheers!
Will definitely follow your adventures in OZ....wishing you a wonderful adventure!!!
